Mojina Turtle

Rhinoclemmys aerolata

Habitat: It lives in tropical forests and savannah near bodies of water.


Food: It feeds on fruits and tender shoots and sometimes on some insects, snails and slugs.


Habits: : It is diurnal and usually spends hours basking on trunks or branches. It is a primarily terrestrial tortoise and is rarely found in aquatic habitats, although it can be found on the fringes of wetlands. In the reproductive season the female produces clutches of a single egg, rarely two, three or four eggs.


It is interesting that… When threatened by a predator, it assumes a defensive posture with its shell facing the predator and its head and legs tucked in
