Tepezcuintle

Habitat: Rain forests, swamps, areas of secondary vegetation, grasslands, agricultural crops and occasionally mangroves.


Food: Leaves, ripe fruits, seeds, tender stems and roots.


Habits: It is terrestrial, it is more active at night and during the day it prefers to be in its burrow. It is common to find its burrows in cenotes and caves where it carries food to consume it.


It is interesting that… The tepezcuintle is the largest rodent in the Mexican tropics
