Horse

Equus Caballus

Habitat: Horses are adaptable to any habitat but prefer grasslands and savannahs; they also occupy semi-deserts, swamps and tropical forests.

Food: They consume grasses in greater proportion and some small plants.

Habits: They are active during the day and at night but prefer the twilight hours. They can rest either standing or lying down. Their social system is of the harem type; with a dominant male that maintains a group of females with their young. When there is more than one male in the herd, one of them is the dominant one and the one that exclusively mates with the females.

Interestingly… The alpha male generally moves to the rear of the pack, but will move to the front when there is a possible threat and he needs to defend or signal the herd to flee.
