Sereque

Dasyprocta punctata

Habitat: : It is found in tropical forests and in the montane cloud forest, occasionally it can be found in chaparral and secondary vegetation.


Food: Fruits, soft seeds, tender stems, flowers, roots, bark, grains, fungi and insects.


Habits: It is terrestrial and is active during the day, it is possible to find it alone or in pairs. They make their burrows in fallen logs under tree roots or in small caves.


It is interesting that… Courtship begins with a nose contact, later the male repeatedly sprays urine at the female until provoking an “unusual reaction” in the female that culminates in mating.
