Habitat: : Being a domestic species, it is found in a variety of habitats.


Diet: it feeds on plant material such as shoots, seeds, leaves, fruits, insects and earthworms that search the ground with its hypersensitive beak.


Habits: It is of diurnal habits, very sociable. During the breeding season it has several pairs. The care of the chicks is entirely the female's.


It is interesting that… The male seduces one or several females through songs, and a dance during which he ruffles his plumage, appearing to be larger. If the female accepts it, she will be fertilized at that very moment.
